Jim Larson's 1963 Grand Prix

This car was built in the Southgate Ca plant 12/1962. The GP's came standard with 389-4, dual exhaust, bucket seats and console w/vacuum gage, dual speed wipers, full padded dash, Instrument panel lights, deluxe steering wheel, DLX wheel covers, clock, 3:23 axle ratio, spare tire cover. Plus, the distinct GP only styling re; different front parking lights and rear lights too, curved rear window. Made with less body chrome than other big Pontiacs and in a 2 door model only. All for a mere $3,489... The man who ordered the car to be delivered to McCandless Motors, Indio Ca, and the color to be: Nocturne Blue w/blue interior, and also wanted: Auto trans, AC, PS, PB, tilt wheel, AM radio w/p rear antenna, rear speaker, all tinted glass, front seat belts, HD air cleaner, OS door mirror, day night mirror, back-up lights, parking brake dash light, WW tires...and those beautiful 8 Lugs.. raising the total to $5,035.61..and that's with OUT windshield washers, which would have been another $13 option.... I located this car from a guy I know up State in the TC area, back in 2002! Bought it August 2003, just days before the WDC and remember that huge area electrical Black-out! Through the years I had new carpet, headliner, rear package tray. Plus, readded the factory AC system, ball joints and found the correct '63 NOS 8 lug drums and wheels, from friends!! Well, I've been very pleased to have chosen a big B body Pontiac and not any other car. The 63 GP is more rare to see at shows/cruises. I also like the size of the trunk and inside too. Back in the day this may have been an 'old mans car' well today 'I am' that old man.. Jim Larson
